Home / What We Do / Houses
Home is more than four walls and a roof over your head. That’s why every Ronald McDonald House provides families with all the comforts of home, just steps away from the hospital. So you can focus on what matters most – caring for your child.
Be together, enjoy comfort meals and receive compassionate support from our staff and volunteers.
Stay together close to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Our 11 family bedrooms offer comfort and privacy, while our communal facilities and rooftop garden (featuring some of the best mountain views in Hobart!) are restful spaces to unwind, socialise and share experiences with fellow families.

Keeping your family together can be tough without support, which is why we offer accommodation for parents with seriously ill children who need to travel to hospital for treatment. Our Houses also support mothers going through high-risk pregnancies.
We try to accommodate the needs of all families, but this is always subject to availability. Priority is given to families whose children have been recently diagnosed, seriously injured or who require emergency treatment, as well as families of premature babies.
Being away from home for long periods can put families under financial pressure. That’s why we don’t charge our guests.
While our policy is to provide free accommodation, your stay at the House may require you to claim financial support towards accommodation and travel from the relevant government transport assistance scheme in your home state. Our friendly team are happy to help you apply for financial support.
To find out if you’re eligible for government financial assistance, please contact your hospital social worker or talk to one of our team.
