Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Eddie

“Being part of a charity that provides so much support and constantly meeting new people is the best part of volunteering.”

Lending a hand is in Eddie’s nature. He fell in love with volunteering after several trips to India, helping an orphanage provide schooling to children.

In 2019, Eddie joined the Ronald McDonald House volunteer family. He got involved after seeing an advertisement for a shuttle bus driver needed at our North Fitzroy House. The timing was perfect, as he entered semi-retirement.

Since then, he hasn’t looked back.

Eddie supports Ronald McDonald House families by transporting them between destinations like the airport, hospital, supermarket, shops, or wherever they need to go while their child is in hospital.

Although shuttle bus driving is Eddie’s main volunteering role, he helps out with electrical repairs, gardening, and odd jobs that are essential around the House, and has been an invaluable help at our fundraising events.

For me, everyday volunteering is a highlight as it offers something different, challenging and rewarding.”

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Eddie. The generosity of your time and effort means families with seriously ill children get the care they deserve.

With your generosity, we can continue to help our Chapters expand their reach and ensure even more families are supported throughout the world.
